How To Make

Easter Eggs

What, No Eggs?

Let us assume, for the moment, that Bunny goes out to a party the night before Easter and forgets to make all the eggs. What can we do to help?
I have had a little look and found out that we can actually make our own.

Painted Boiled Eggs

Here's a really colourful way to make your own Easter Eggs and it is almost healthy.
Figure out how many eggs you will want, put them in a saucepan and cover with cold water.
When the water comes to the boil leave for about 4 or five minutes then turn the heat off and leave to stand a while longer.

When your eggs are cool you can start to decorate them.
Using poster paint, felt tipped pens, food colouring or any other paint that will work you can colour your eggs freehand in a design of your choice or just colour them then cover them with neato stickers.
Another really yummy way to decorate them is like this

  • Make up three bowls of water heavily coloured with food colouring
  • Place a third of your eggs into each bowl and leave until your base colour has taken
  • Allow the eggs to dry then put stickers on them. These might be dots, stars or whatever you have. Then dip each egg into a different coloured dye to its original
  • Allow to dry, peel off the stickers and who need Bunny anyway?

Tea Dyed Eggs

For each Easter Egg that you want to make you will need 1 outer onion skin, 1 rubber band and a piece of white cotton fabric 25cm square.

  • Wrap the egg in the onion skin and secure with the rubber band
  • Place the egg on the fabric and enclose it like a little bag and tie closely with string
  • In a saucepan, cover your eggs with cold water, bring to the boil and leave for 4 to 5 minutes
  • Cool eggs and unwrap to reveal a beautifully marbled Easter Egg
