Ingredients

- 2 French Sticks
- 225g Butter
- 1 or more juicy Cloves of Garlic to taste

- 1 level teaspoon each of finely chopped parsley, chives and Lemon Thyme
- Salt and Pepper to taste
|

You will need
A sharp knife, a cutting board, 2 mixing bowls, a wooden spoon oven mitts and aluminium foil

Directions

- Cut the French sticks into chunky slices almost to the bottom of the loaf but not quite
- Beat the butter until soft and creamy and divide into two equal portions
- Crush the garlic and mix well into one portion of butter
- Add salt and pepper to taste
- Mix the chives, lemon thyme and parsley well into the other portion adding salt and pepper

- Spread the garlic butter thickly into the cuts of one loaf and the herb butter into the other using up all of the butter
- Wrap each bread stick tightly in foil and bake in a moderate oven (200c) for around 15 minutes
- Unwrap, place on a platter and serve hot
- As the butter moistens the bread it could be a day or two old
